Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What's the fitness level required?
A: You should be able to hike 2–6 hours daily on varied terrain. Our longest hike is 9 miles, but the elevation gain is no more than 1500 ft. No technical skills are needed, but we will be on our feet plenty!
Q: What are the accommodations like?
A: Simple but comfy! We stay with rural communities, learn about their culture, and eat amazing food. Rooms are shared doubles/triples. Nights 1 & 7 are at a cozy inn; the rest are more rustic. Warm showers aren’t guaranteed, but the views and the amazing rural night skies are worth it!
Q: Do I need to speak Portuguese?
A: Nope! There will always be translations offered, and we are happy to teach you some basics!
Q: Is there an age requirement?
A: This trip is best for folks in their 20s–30s looking for an adventurous, low-frills experience. With that being said, anyone active, open-minded, and ok with some long dirt roads is more than welcome!
Q: Do the guesthouses have internet?
A: All do, except for Mauricio’s guest house on nights 5 & 6.
Q: Is it safe to drink the water?
A: We’ll provide safe drinking water for the hikes. If you want to drink from natural sources with an extra degree of confidence, bring a filter—we recommend the Epic Everywhere Water Filter!
Q: What's the weather like?
A: Warm to hot days, cooler nights. Dry season (May–Sept) rarely sees rain. Bring layers and a jacket for chilly evenings!
Q: What's the food like?
A: Fresh, organic, local food—Brazilian and traditional Kalunga. Breakfasts at our stays, trail lunches, and early dinners. Let us know dietary needs in advance. Feel free to bring your fave snacks from the US!
Q: How do I get there?
A: Fly into Brasília International Airport. We’ll handle group transport to and from Chapada, and everywhere in between!
Q: What’s the transportation like?
A: Two 4x4s driven by local guides. Highways are smooth, but the dirt roads are rough—we call it the Brazilian massage!
Q: Can I charge my devices?
A: Yes, but it’s still best to bring with you a portable charger and a Brazil plug adapter.
Q: Is this trip good for solo travelers?
A: Absolutely. Our smaller groups makes it easy to connect with others, solo or not. One of the most special parts of this trip is connecting with other like minded travelers and making new friends!
Q: How should I pack?
A: We’ll send a full list! Key items: biodegradable products, layers, good hiking shoes, swimsuit, sun hat, large pack (40–70L), and a trail pack (25–30L).
Q: What's the payment structure?
A: 40% due at booking ($880)
70% due 30 days before the trip ($1320)

30–59 days: 50% back
<30 days: No refund
